Year 11 Parent Information and Guidance Evening

|

As our year 11 pupils approach their mock exams and the final few terms at St Mary’s, I would like to invite you to an information and guidance evening on Thursday 20th November at 5.30pm in the Drama Theatre. The aim of the evening will be to offer practical support and guidance for parents so that all pupils are able to achieve to their full potential.

The evening will consist of a presentation with practical hints and tips. You will be provided with a pack containing revision guidance, key examination dates and specific information from various GCSE subjects. It is important to note that we will not be able to discuss the progress of individual pupils at this time. However, you will receive an invitation to an individual guidance meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. These will take place on Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th November.

I hope that through working together,we can provide a purposeful learning environment, both at school and at home, which encourages our young people to become independent learners and take responsibility for their learning and successes in the coming months.

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at school. I look forward to seeing you on the 20th November.

Yours sincerely,

Miss K S McNicholas
Headteacher

Year 7 Parents and Tutors "settling in" meetings

|

On Wednesday 12th November, our  Year 7 parents and tutors settling in evening took place here in school and we were delighted that  85% of parents attended with their children to discuss how the first few weeks of life at St Mary’s was going and to learn about how we would be tracking their pupil’s progress over the coming years.

As parents left we conducted an exit survey, the results of which are shown below.  Your feedback is really important to us and where constructive criticisms have been made we are already looking at improvements we can make in response.

It was great to hear what a great year group we have in the Year 7s and to hear what a fabulous start they have made to high school life.  Thanks are due to the Year 7 Pastoral Team, led by Mr Riley, and to all the staff who have helped to get the newest members of the family of Leyland St Mary’s get off to such a great start.   However, the greatest praise must go to the year 7s themselves who have adapted to high school life with great enthusiasm and determination.

Running & Swimming Challenge

|

Congratulations to Year 8's Dayna, who has completed two sport challenges. These consisted of a 5 mile run followed by a 50 length swim and then a 10 mile run finishing with a 100 length swim. This is an incredible achievement, especially as Dayna is not a member of a swimming club. Dayna has also won the Year 8 girl 'Performer of the Month' in PE, for her commitment to extra-curricular clubs and her outstanding effort in lessons. Well done Dayna.
